  1. Honda 250 Nighthawk....  or any second hand cheap 250cc bike..

once you know how to ride & have thrown it down the road a few times..  you will have an idea what sort of bike you want..& you will get your money back as a trade in on a bigger better bike..(unless you write it off)..  but better a cheap old bike than your nice new pride & joy.....

  2. If you have never ridden dirtbikes, or something motorized with two wheels I would go with something more sport touring. But you didn't specify whether you wanted a cruiser like a harley or a metric sport bike.  I know nothing about harleys.  Sport bike wise If you are trying to learn I would go with either something at least 600cc If its an inline 4 (ex. 2006 Suzuki GSXR 600) or you could drop to a V-twin such as the Suzuki SV650s or a SV1000 since you are taller you might want the bigger cc model.  Go sit on a few and ask at the dealership.  Just be careful remember a stock GSXR 600 will easily do 155mph so start like me I went with a V-twin sportbike so I wouldn't be a splatter on the road.

  3. honda is best......

  4. I reject the Honda Night Hawk on the grounds that it has inferior brakes.  Get at least disk-front and drum-rear, and the Kawasaki ninja has disks front and rear. If it has to be a Honda, the rebel is better in several ways, not the least of which is the braking system. The second is the size of the gas tank. (which is the strong point of the Kawasaki -- Not only does it have dual disks, it has the biggest tank in the entire 250 class.)

The higher seat will suit you better too.

  5. i reckon for yr height and tonnage, you'd better go for a vmax.It aint a crotch rocket cos u have to figure out where to place your belly. You sit kinda upright on a vmax, its got plenty of power to take you around and its kinda cheap now.Listen to me coz i ride one - its my 3rd vmax-i have changed many times and i still find it's still the best.

  6. Honda is a good bike and the 250 is a great traditional starting place. You might want to consider a 500 because all the 80cc - 250cc bikes are sold out! It only the bigger iron left. Possibly you could find a Honda VLX 600 V twin. This is an excellent reasonably priced bike, modest in power. It will last forever with care and oil changes.

  7. Depends on how much you want to spend and how long you want to hang onto it.  A lot of the motorcycle safety classes use Honda Rebels (250cc).  What is good for someone else might not be good for you.  Do you plan to take it on the expressway?  Drive it every day to/from work?  If you plan to go on the expressway, then you'll need at least 500cc.  Do you want new or used?  Your question is somewhat ambiguous, as the questions above need to be answered before anyone can give an unbiased, intelligent answer.

  8. Honda Vt750 it's a nice cruiser but not as small as the rebel.  If it must be a sport bike as a new rider Honda CBR600 or Yamaha R6.  But sure to wear a helmet, still very fast bikes!
