Good music for a 12 year old?

Fair to Midland is a good band, no matter what a person's musical preference is, they always seem to like something about that band. Even my seven year old sister likes a few of their songs.

Hmm, if you like Christian bands, I've heard good things about Flyleaf and Thousand Foot Krutch but that's more of a hard-rock type of music.

I remember liking Bowling For Soup and Lindsay Lohan when I was 12-ish (not popular nowadays, but music is music).  They have some pretty good songs you may like.  My suggestion, check it out on youtube, see what you like.  Hope that helped a little...
