Question:

Good neighborhoods/cities in Philadelphia?

My husband is getting a job transfer to Philly at the beginning of the new year and I was curious what neighborhoods we should look into outside of the city, in the city, and metro. We like farmers markets and more of a artist feel of neighborhoods. Thanks!

  1. You might like Mount Airy, in the city. It's very diverse. There is a good farmer's market up the road in Chestnut Hill.

Also, Northern Liberties is up and coming and kind of artsy. Same for Old City. You can get to the Reading Terminal Mkt from Old City easily.

Queen Village might work, too. Everything I mentioned are city neighborhoods. Welcome to Philly.

  2. Outside the city:

    Newtown

    Jenkintown

    Ambler

    Conshohocken

    Media

    Inside:

    Northern Liberties

    Fishtown

    W Mt Airy

    East Falls

If you have alot of money move to Chestnut Hill in the city.

  3. go to bucks county

  4. Where in Philly is your husband's job?  Center city?  What price range are you comfortable with?  Do school reputations matter?  Is there a commuter distance limit that your husband has set (e.g. less than 1 hour)?
