  1. Depends how close you want to be, the nicer and affulant suburbs are the outer city ones, E.G Lisvane, Rhiwbina, Tongwynlais&Whitchurch, Radyr, Pentyrch, Creigure, Old St Mellons, Dinis Powys, St Fagans. There are lots of huge out of city shopping retail centres these days, i live in a rural area of the city and i am 5-10minutes from the largest ASDA in Wales. If you want to live in the not so nice inner city suburbs then Canton, crime is much higher in these areas though and considering the prices of the houses there i would stay in the areas like Rhiwbina which have good transport to the city anyway, there is loads of train stations and buses.

  2. Roath and Cathays are full of students but decent distance into town (15-30 min walk)

Penylan is a nice are but slightly further away (40 min)

Canton is close to town and okay place to stay.

Heath is nice but far away from town.

Splott, Grangetown and Ely is to be avoided

Cardiff Bay is nice and have good transport to town

  3. Canton,Victoria Park and Llandaff.
