Hey, I am going to Berlin, Germany with a friend on Sunday for a few days. We were wondering if there is good nightlife there? More specifically, we were thinking maybe any good rock clubs, or just any good clubs with cheap drinks and pretty girls? I hope that doesn't make us sound too scandalous cos we're not haha. But yeah, can anyone recommend anywhere?

  1. Well, the focus on Berlin nightlife is set on electronic music, but of course there are also loads of rock clubs in town.

My favourites (please google or use the link at the end of my answer for exact addresses):

    - Bassy (Schoenhauser Allee at underground station Senefelder Platz, a bit hidden and door says mostly: private party - but don't bother, knock): excellent club with 60s beat/garage and indie rock, sometimes live concerts. a bit like in a tarantino shot western movie...

    - white trash fast food (a bit down Schoenhauser Allee), in a giant ex irish pub, the tarantino vibe continues somehow. strange concerts, bad service, mediocre food, but excellent vibes especially weekends. between rock, punk, alternative and whatever's cool/uncool.

    - bang bang club (near hackescher markt), shortly opened, garage/indierock. nice design.

    - magnet (maybe the place with the best looking women in town, but depends of course of the day). Emo, punkrock, indiepop, alternative rock, often concerts before party. very cute looking.

    - Rosi's, near Ostkreuz in a dark street, trashy club with DDR-Atmosphere. very alternative, very relaxed, not only rock, also underground electro/Drum'n'bass.

    - Cassiopeia and RAW-Tempel, two different, rather cheap (especially the RAW, but the design's a bit boring) clubs adjacent to each other in the same area near S-Bahn station Warschauer Straße.

    - Duncker, small but cool underground club near S-Bahn prenzlauer Allee. Dark or/and metal and alternative rock. on the cheap side.

    - Octopussy, small club with outdoor area not far away from Frankfurter Allee station (somewhere on Guertelstrasse)

    - Lido in Kreuzberg near Schlesisches Tor station. shortly opened, but already home for the alternative crowd of the area. often also concerts.

If you like Indie Rock, especially watch out for the karrera klub parties which are located in different clubs (mostly Rosi's, Bang Bang Club, Magnet or Lido). And watch out for the dates of each club, most of them aren't open daily and feature different styles each night. Especially during the week some clubs are not very crowded but are cheaper than on weekends.
