Good non profit organizations to donate to for starving kids?

i have been trying to educate my 8 year old about starving children...and i came up with an idea/project for us to have a small fundraiser for the starving children over seas...the thing that concerns me is which one to pick...i don't want to donate to an organization that is going to take part of the money even though they say they are non profit...so i need a charity that i can trust...any suggestions?

Better yet, for him to learn about caring,why not  donate to your local food bank.  Check with the people who manage and see if your son could even help out there.  This is in your community with people he can visualize and he can grasp the real meaning of helping.

There are already some good suggestions.  I would add:

Heifer International

Compassion International

Both of these are good and go beyond simply giving children a bowl of rice today , but are still starving 10 years later.  I applaud your idea.  I wish more parents would do the same.
