Good old fashioned pancakes!?

I made these old fashioned pancakes. They were delicious but they came out super flat. Like crepes. I followed the directions exactly. What did I do wrong? Did I need to add something else?

  1. Maybe your baking powder was too old

  2. To me, it looks like that recipe has too much salt.  Possibly over-mixed batter as well.  Try this one:

1 3/4 cups all purpose flour

    2 tbsp sugar

    1 tbsp baking powder

    1/4 tsp salt

    1 egg, slightly beaten

    1 1/2 cups milk

    3 tbsp cooking oil

Combine dry ingredients, set aside.  In another bowl, use fork to combine wet ingredients.  Add all at once to dry mixture.  Stir JUST until moistened.  Batter will be slightly lumpy.

    Cook as usual.  :)

  3. maybe you didn't put enough batter in, so it came out extra thin?

  4. this is the right recipe to use

    use exact measurements

    1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

    3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

    1 teaspoon salt

    1 tablespoon white sugar

    1 1/4 cups milk

    1 egg

    3 tablespoons butter, melted

    DIRECTIONS

In a large bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Make a well in the center and pour in the milk, egg and melted butter; mix until smooth.

Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium high heat. Pour or scoop the batter onto the griddle, using approximately 1/4 cup for each pancake. Brown on both sides and serve hot.
