Good online degrees?

I'm asking this question for my mother...

She's about to turn 50, wants to divorce my dad, and I completely condone that, but she's unemployed and has never really worked in her life. She has a 13 year old son, my brother, who she would have to take care of besides herself, and of course, doesn't want to struggle too too much.

I think she should get a degree, but I especially think maybe an online degree would be a great thing for her.

What kind of online degree would help her make the most money she could for a woman in her circumstances? I was thinking maybe medical transcription, but i don't know too much about it. Any other ideas?

The chances of her getting a job by going to an online school for med transcription is very slim. Plus it takes years of on the job experience to get a job working from home, if that is what you had in mind for her.

I would recommend a community college. Many of them offer all-online courses to get a degree or certificate in transcription.
