Good opening sentence for an essay?

Question

I need to write an essay to try-out for high school cheerleading team captain. The question is "What makes you a good cheerleader?" and "What would make you a good captain?" I need to think of a good topic sentence, which I'm usually good at but i guess today I just need some help. *Please don't comment on cheerleading being a dumb sport*

Make some sentence about what it means to be a good leader. For example: "To be a leader, one must have great diligence, perseverance, and courage." Then go on and tell them about why you have these qualities.

By the way, I like your school's idea! This will stop the blond bimbos from getting the spot!

and the body of ur essay can talk about different ways that you view cheer-leading as a catalyst for inspiration.

the best way to start any essay is to rephrase the question, so just say,

in my opinion what makes a good cheerleader is personality, a good attitude bla bla bla and of course dance/gymnastic skills.

i think these are important because.....bla bla bla.

it is especially important for a captain to have these qualities as they will be leading and influencing their team

these are qualities which i believe i have myself, (then go on about you for a bit)

end with a summary of what the sport means to you and why it means so much, also try to put in  little bit about what you would be like as a captain.
