Good oratory topic for debate?

I"m in debate class, and I decided that for my I.E. I would do an oratory, which is basicaly a persuasive esay. However, over-used topics like Abortion, Drugs, etc, are off limits since my teacher doesn't like them. So what's a good, interesting topic I could use for my oratory/persuasive essay?

In the news today, a school district in Texas allowed teachers to carry guns at school after being trained.  I don't know what kind of research you can find on the topic, just a twist on school safety.

What are you passionate about.  I think that will come across in your speech if you choose a subject, narrow it down, then think of pros or cons.  If you would add an area of your interest here, then we could help give you a topic.

how about curfews or different laws that the place you live in has and whether you agree with them or not.
