Question:

Good part-time job for a full-time student?

This fall, I will be returning to Keene, NH for my sophomore year at Keene State College. It's a great area, college oriented, but there are a lot of kids looking for jobs with limited availability. To add to frustration, I won't have a car (but I do have a longboard and a bike!)

I'm taking 5 classes this semester and my grades are much more important than income, BUT I'd like to find a job that doesn't mind me working a day or two or three out of the week.

I've heard bits and pieces about reliable survey websites that pay $2- $10 per survey you take, which would be perfect to have a little pocket change. Is it legit?

I worked for the school as a night attendant last year which paid very little and had really LATE hours. Not really looking to do that again, and it was the highest paying job the school offers.

I've got a good reputation and resume, but I'm afraid it won't do me any good if I can only work two or three days a week.

Any suggestions?

Serious answers please. Preferably people who have already been through this before.

Thanks!

  1. I recommend posting your resume on the keene, NH or lower NH craigslist boards.

    Then peruse the job listings.

Online surveys, I have done and have made money, however in all the couple hours I've spent on them, I've only made a few dollars.  You will probably make more doing minimum wage work.  The survey site I've used is opinion outpost.  (it's fun, but time consuming.)

I bet late night work sucks-its the WORST shift evar.

you don't have to post your whole resume online if you don't want to.   What are you studying?  Be sure to ask for a job that fits your qualifications.

Find a job close to you, that you can bike to?

The car thing may be a problem.  Otherwise, try to get a job at your college.  Try the IT department, or work as a admin assistant for the registration department.

you will find a job if you look hard enough.
