  1. Yeah!  That excuse comes about 4th or 5th in the list.

    Get a life, how on earth can you forget that your not insured?

    Anyway it's 6 points and £200 fine for no insurance but it should be a ban and £2000 fine for that pathetic excuse.

  2. you should get 12 points, be banned for life and get a 10 grand fine. Reposess your house if you can't pay up. Am I still nice?

  3. If YOU are insured fully comp then you are able to drive other cars third party only as long as your insurance policy states this.  If you do not own an insurance policy at all then no you are not insured at all.  You could get a fine of about £200 and 6 points on your licence.  The penalty would show up as an IN10 (or similar) and it will bump your insurance premium up when you renew.  It will also make it difficult for you to get insurance in the future (for 5 years) and also car hire companies could refuse you if you have this on your licence.

    Whether you believed you were committing an offence or not, you were and you will need to face the consequences.  If they let you off then you are lucky but the above is what happened to someone I know.

    I would go get insurance now if I was you!

  4. sadly stupidity isn't a defence in court...you can try for the 5 points but they might triple the fine.

  5. I've got news for you, driving uninsured attracts 6 - 8 points plus a hefty fine. It's your duty as the driver to ensure you are covered, which you clearly didn't.  Courts take insurance offences very seriously and are seldom interested in excuses, though you're welcome to try.

    It was fortunate that the car wasn't seized and, for that matter, your sister prosecuted for "causing or permitting" you to drive uninsured.

  6. you will get 6 pts and a fine. you can explain the situation to the courts, but you will still get done, at best they may be a little kinder on the fine. as a driver, it is your duty to confirm that the car you are driving is road legal for you at the time. many people believe so long as you have comprehensive cover it covers all drivers, it doesnt. i work for an insurance broker, the level of cover applies to repairs not to the drivers. persons entitled to drive are named under "persons entitled to drive" on the certificate of insurance. same, people think, if you have comprehensive insurance, you can drive another car third party only cover - it doesnt work like that. again the driving other cars extention is under "named persons entitled to drive" and you as the policyholder (if the insurers grant it to you) can have it on comprehensive, third party fire and theft or third party only cover. best bet is to get your sister to ring her insurers and get them to add you to the policy. you can even be added as a temporary driver if you dont want to be covered for the full year.

  7. Mate get your self insured for god SAKE, thats why i pay such a premium! becoz of ppl like u

  8. iF YOU ARE IN THE STATES THEN YOU DO NOT NEED INSURANCE THE CAR NEEDS INSURANCE. SO IF YOUR SIS CAR WAS INSURED YOU ARE FINE JUST BRING THEM THE PROOF ISSUE RESOLVED.

  9. Ignorance is  no excuse. You knew you needed insurance and it is your responsibility to ensure you are. your sister is lucky not to be in Court for allowing you to drive the car in the first place.

  10. If she has comprehensive insurance surely any driver would be insured for 3rd party?

    If not, I would expect points and a fine.

  11. Before everybody else in the flog you and hang you brigade has there say ! Yes, you will no doubt end up with a summons. Just go to Court, say you are sorry, explain what you have said here and ask for leniency. Don't grovel too much, it does not cut it with the Magistrates, call them "Sir " or " Ma'am" wear a suit, or equally smart clothing. If this is a first offence, you should be able to plead guilty by letter without attending Court.

  12. you are lucky thy didn't take the car;
