Hi folks,

I'm looking to upgrade my (bulky) Radio X1950 Pro card to something that can cope with the likes of Crysis, and the upcoming Spore.

What would you recommend in the £100-150/US$200-300 range? No preference over ATI or nVidia, but something with the least bulk possible, and needs to be PCI-E.

Thanks

  1. radeon 4870

theyre pretty narrow and fit in your price range. very powerful cards. only available as pci-e and require 500watts or greater power supply.

  2. Look up the Geforce 9800 GTX. It has alot of power for a good price. I am not sure it will let u play Crysis max resolution, but ull certainly be able to find your target. And, if your motherboard supports it u can get 3 and do a 3 way SLI (although that does cost more than 300 bucks). Anyway check that out, that should lead u in the right direction.

  3. Tom's Hardware did a round-up of the current top of the line graphics cards. Their evaluation includes how the cards perform in Crysis, so you can get a pretty good idea there.

I was amazed to discover that no consumer graphics card currently on the market can run Crysis at max'd out settings >30 fps.
