Good pet that lives for 2 or less years?

I'm looking to get a low maintenance pet that will live for under 2 years (my living situation will change at that time). I do not want fish, I want something I can interact with. Something along the lines of a bunny but has a shorter life span.

  1. i'd say a hamster or a mouse. But they don't always live that long. Whenever i got one they lived maybe 5 months.

But i'd go with a hamster.

  2. Ughh do NOT get a hamster, they bite and are overall grumpy creatures. Mice are better than you'd expect, and rabbits are great... but for what you're describing I'd definitely say guinea pig. They are wonderful pets! Their sounds and squeaks will cheer you up, they don't bite, you'll love em.

I'm sorry I forgot about the 2-yr thing. For a pet living (aprox) 2yrs, go for a rat. I've bred rats and owned them for 5yrs and they are so more amazing than people give them credit for. Super smart and yes, you can even buy rats without "gross" tails.

  3. a hamster lives about 2 years and are very low maintenance. also, mice.

  4. Go to PetsMart. Even though it's not the best pet supplier, it has a type of VERY cute mouse that is black and white, small, and lives up to two years. I can't remember the name, but if you look, you could probably find it. I believe the food, toys, and cage is fairly cheap and it is very interactive. I hope I helped =D Mice are in the line of bunnies, right? I believe most bunnies live up to three or fours years and longer. Plus, you don't have to change the bedding as much and the cage is smaller. I'm not saying to just shunt it off because it is low matainance, but it is just less of a hassel. Have fun then =D

EDIT: GUINEA PIGS live up to SIX TO TEN YEARS! I don't think that's what your looking for =D

  5. how about a frog?

  6. you could get anything then see if there is a friends or relative that would want to adopt it after 2 years. there are not many things that you can interact with that only have a life span of 2 years or less..... maybe get an ant farm or a flea farm!!! lol

  7. A pet that lives within the range of two years is a hamster, a rat, or a mouse.  I personally advise getting a hamster.  They aren't as large as a rat but they aren't incredibly small like a mouse, depending on the breed.  A hamster's cage should be cleaned weekly, and always have fresh water and food.  A hamster's teeth constantly grow, at the pet store there are special types of wood that need to be given to them, to keep their teeth at a small size.  Inside their cage they need a wheel because they are nocternal animals and active.  You can also get them a ball to run in around your house.  Hamsters are easily cared for and affordable.   The only problem is hamsters are excape artists.  But with a secure cage and toys they should be fine.
