  1. The majority of Japanese restaurants in Toronto are run by Chinese Canadians, but that doesn't necessarily mean that they aren't good.

I've had relatively good food at good prices at Ajisen which is on Bayview south of Hwy 7, north of Steeles.   Also Tako Sushi on Don Mills, north of Eglinton.

You can get quite authentic ramen at Kenzo Ramen on Yonge Street just south of Centerpoint Mall on the west side of Yonge in a small strip mall.

You can get totally authentic ramen at a place near the Kelsey's where the T&T supermarket is in Markham.  Steeles and Kennedy?  I forget the name, but it's a small Japanese ramen shop, an actual branch of a Japanese chain.  Yum!

You can get small dishes at J-Town, also on Steeles, just west of the 404.  It's a Japanese supermarket but has a cafe attached to it where you can get things like yakisoba.  The staff are Japanese and you're getting the real deal.  Not a great place to dine though, just for snacks.

Other than that I'd say go to Vancouver or Japan.

  2. go up to hw 7, they got loads there.
