Good places to eat for birthday in Southern CA?

I will be turning 17 in a couple of weeks and my family wants to take me out to eat but we don't know where to go? We want to go somewhere that is not toooo expensive but still nice..also a place that is fun, has good food and atmosphere. We live in Palm Springs and are willing to drive a little to go to the restaurant...Any suggestions would be a big help! Thank you c:

If you and your family like Italian then its got to be Philipe's in San Diego.

When you enter you walk through an Italian deli asking yourself, "O.K., so where's the restaurant?". But you continue walking through the deli to a hallway entrance and there it is. A full restaurant with great atmosphere(candle-lit tables and all).

I took both of my boys there for their birthday meals. They just love it. And one of the best pizzas you'll find anywhere. Great pastas, too.

Prices are no higher than other places, but the quality is fantastic.

You'll find them on India st. just off Ash.
