Question:

Good places to register for wedding?

Hi Everyone!

I am getting married next year and was wondering if you guys could give me ideas of where to register and where not to register.

I have heard good and bad things about Target...Any thoughts? Should I go through a department store for Fine China? Does anyone have any opinions on different stores? Are there cool stores to register for art and decor, things like that?

I am from the Chicago area, so if anyone from/knows the area would be able to give me local places that would be great too!

Thank you everyone!

  1. Target

    Bed Bath & Beyond

    Home Depot

    Lowes

(Also, we had given hints out that it would be nice for people who didn't follow the registry to please get local market/grocery store Gift Cards)

^ It's a huge help to come out married & have some help w/ grocery money.

  2. I'm in Chicago also. Holla!

Anyhoo, we just registered last weekend, and we went to the Crate and Barrel on North, and it was a great experience. We decided to register for fine china at Bed Bath and beyond (the Clyborn location) and then get basic everyday stuff at Crate and Barrel. The selection is so awesome and they have very clean and modern pieces that also have a traditional feel to them, which is what our style is. Not to mention it's affordable! We registered for an everyday basic plain white place setting, and it's $32 for the 4-piece setting. Such a steal. And they have the best selection of drinkware (wine glasses, champagne flutes, etc.). They also have a great flatware selection.

Bed Bath and Beyond is perfect for pots and pans, steak knives, random kitchen gadgets, sheets and bedding.

Target is great for kitchen appliances, towels, bathroom stuff, etc.

That's how we broke up our registry, though. But I HIGHLY suggest Crate and Barrel on North. The location is much less crowded than the Michigan location, and they were extremely helpful.

Congratulations to you, and best of luck!

  3. Congrats. I registered at J.C. Penney because I shop there and they gave me a free wedding planner. I got one present from Target and because I didn't register there and didn't have a receipt they wouldn't let me exchange it.....

  4. I registered at target, Bed Bath and Beyond, Kohl's, and Macy's... and since I was from a small town I also registered at the two "jewelry" stores there as well for things like stemware and china and other finer things.. :D

  5. If you have a lot of out-of-town guests Target and other nationwide stores are usually your best bet.  Bed bath and beyond was also in our "top ten." :)  We ended up settling with Target.  Things went smoothly... we did have some hiccups with colors and things like that, but it all panned out and we were very pleased in the end.  It helped that they had such a wide selection of items that we loved.

  6. I would advise Crate & Barrel & Macy's

Bed Bath and Beyond or Linens N Things I have heard good things about. I would suggest registering at places that are easy for your guests to access physically.  As far as fine china - I would think about this.... Is this something you're REALLY going to use? We ended up getting really nice silverware and a regular dishes from C & B that can be dressed up for a fancy dinner or used for every day.  C & B has some art/decor but if you're looking for more of that you might try Z Gallerie - that is an awesome store and they have a nice selection of art work

  7. Target has a wonderful gift registry. Bed, Bath and Beyond is also a great choice. If you don't necessarily need the gifts you may also look into travel registries - the newest idea in wedding gifts. There are some websites that allow guests make donations towards your honeymoon or another vacation you plan to take.

  8. I asked this question a few weeks ago!  I got Bed, Bath, and Beyond (#1 answer) and Target.  BBB has a better return policy, and the gift registry IS your gift receipt.  Target requires a gift receipt. If you have no receipt, you can online exchange 2 times(items???) per year.

I'm registered at Target and BBB.

Look me up.. Bev Lewis in Texas

  9. Target has been great. (plus it's fun to be able to snoop at what people bought you from the website). We also registered with amazon.com. This is nice for finding more of an array of items. Now, the fine china question is tricky. How often do you REALLY use fine china? Never, right? So, save your guests the money and don't bother. Get something that will do you some good. Register with Home Depot, Menards and fix up your house. Not only does it make it look pretty but it adds value to your place.
