  1. i have always wanted to go to germany ..my mom and i are going there and austria this year. i have done tons of research on it [lol]. i even have some penpals from there...here are some hot spots in germany:

rhine river- take a cruise down it and pass tons of mideval casltes.

berlin-the capital. has been through a rough past, and tons of stuff to do. museums and activities.

munich- tons of people say good things about munich, and say its a great place for young people.

this is the top germany tourism site:

    then here are some others--

  2. Europe is a lovely place, full of lots of interesting history. I'm trying to think of what a couple of guys might like to see that's a little different...hmmm, maybe some castles. There are dozens of castles to see in Germany and Austria. And inside these castles you can find fantastic displays of implements, weaponry and other items used throughout the ages...and some castles have dungeons and torture chambers displaying all the types of torture used...gory but fascinating.

In Salzburg, Austria...there is the Hohensalzburg Fortress, which looms high above the city. It has a huge display of armour, uniforms, helmets, weapons (knives, swords, machine guns, hand grenades etc etc).

And in Germany you have the 12th century town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber, which is completely  surrounded by a wall, with holes in it (for shooting arrows through). You can walk the wall in large sections for great views.

The town was almost completely destroyed by the bombings in WW2, but was quickly restored to preserve it's authenticity.

There is also a very interesting museum and criminal museum which displays an actual medieval kitchen and other rooms...and very strange and horrible forms of punishment used in the middle ages.

There are dozens of other castles to see...just pick a town.

Another cool thing to do, is to climb right up to the top of some of the church spires for great views over the cities. Some of these climbs can be a little 'enclosed', with hundreds of small winding steps up a very small spiral staircase...great once you finally get to the top.

Anyway, that's just one sort of thing to see in Europe. There's plenty more though...

I suggest you get a good book on Germany, Austria and Italy for ideas (Lonely Planet is very good)...or check out various homepages of cities and towns you want to see (most have their own webpage).

Hope you have lots of fun.

  3. If you are in Southern Germany go and see the area of GARMISCH-PARTENKIRCHEN. Go up on the Zugspitze (highest mountain in Germany and you will be able to see Germany, Austria,Italy)

Also the city of "Rothenburg ob der Tauber" is so cute to see. You will love it.

"Munich" is always fun to see.

  4. i went to germany last august and i went to berlin. definetly check out the unter din linden (row of linden trees) it has the brandenburg gate, and the victory or triumph tower. also off to the side is the reichstag or german govn't building. also just north of the brandenburg gate are tons of museums and a great old cathedral. also lots of statues.

  5. Germany: Berlin, Munich, Hamburg, many other cities (depending on the time you want to spent here), Europa Park at Rust near Freiburg in Southern Germany(Europa Park is extremely fun, I really can advise it), Holiday Park at Haßloch in Rhineland-Palatinate, the Alpes and many many other things to do.

Surely the last two parks are mentioned as you want to have fun ;)

Austria: Vienna, Salzburg, Innsbruck, the Alpes

Italy: Rome, South Tyrol (German speaking majority of population), Milan, Venice.

I can recommend all of the mentioned things.

  6. A good place to visit when in Austria, Germany and Italy, are the Pyramids of Giza! Lol.

  7. If you are still into "kiddie" fun and not too ladylike for it yet, check out the various "Sommerrodelbahnen" - summer sledding trails. They are a bit like rollercoasters with the difference that you are sledding down  a mountain in a car.

The website below gives a list of places to do this that are located in Austria:

    http://www.rodeln.at/rodeln/rodelbahnen/...

A thing I liked very much was to see the birds of prey show on the Pfänder mountain at the eastern shore of Lake Constance.

Another fun thing to do in Germany is to visit a spa:

You can also do a bit for your history education at one of Germany's Concentration Camps:

Maybe you could also be a bit more specific about the places you and your dad plan to visit, we could help you better with tips of what is fun in this city or that. "Austria, Germany and Italy" is like writing "west coast of the USA" without being specific whether you are going to Seattle or San Fran or staying in some place off-the-beaten-track in North California. :-)
