Good play for High School?

Well I am 14 and trying to get a drama club started at my high school. I have already directed 4 plays and getting ready to direct my 5th. One of the ladies in my school's administrations office would help me if we were to get one started.

I am going to talk to her sometime this week. I would like to know what's a good play. I don't want to do a musical at first just because I'd like to start out easy. So if you have any suggestions that would be great!

  1. I would say....Get Smart, Death of a Salesman, The Crucible, All My Sons, Bang Bang Your Dead, Scapine, A Servant to Two Masters, All in the Timing......we've done those and they were great. They should be easy enough for a budding drama department.

  2. The Importance of Being Earnest

    Of Mice and Men

    The Children's Hour

  3. shakespeare! taming of the shrew

  4. Some very good and very fun plays I've seen for high school that are not musicals:

    -- Alice in Wonderland

    -- Once Upon a Mattress

    -- A Midsummer Night's Dream

    -- Romeo and Juliet

-- Much Ado About Nothing (see the movie for inspiration!)

    -- Our Town, of course,

-- OR you could take some extra time and adapt your favorite book into a script.

Good luck with your play this year! :)
