Hi all

A friend of mine has just popped out twins and Im not sure what to get her as a present. When she had her first son I was advised to go for something useful so bought a grobag which was great but she will have a number of these now. I dont want to go for anything too pretty get never used and impractical and I would prefer to get something useful - but as for what I have no idea. I dont have kids of my own so any thoughts would be great!

  1. Make her and hubby some dinners to freeze. My MIL did that for us and we ate nice meals for 2 weeks. It was the nicest thing in those exhuasting and busy first 2 weeks.

EDIT you could always buy lots od diapers, wipes and those types of pricey essentials.

  2. maybe a stoller. every mom needs a stroller (with two seats)!!! you could find one at babies r us

  3. Give her the gift of your  time. She may have family  to help her now, but at some point they willl not be there. Give her some handmade certificates with offers like: help with laundry housework, meals, babysitting, errands, etc. I did that for a friend of mine and she said it was the best gift she ever got!

  4. Give her a gift certificate from her favourite store and she could choose what she likes for the twins.

  5. I would get the twins a cuddly toy each or something collectable and get some small presents to keep their other child occupied while she is feeding the twins etc

  6. Maybe clothes? they always come in handy with new baby's

  7. If it were me, i'd get them t-shirts to do with twins or make a photobook for her, or a keepsake box?

Or wait a little bit and get her blankets with the babies names and DOBs on them? I really wish people got me keepsakes when i had my son! I love them!

Or bottles? Lol if she's not breastfeeding, she's guna need a h**l of a lot of them! (Or mothercare vouchers or something?)

  8. Everytime someone has babies in my family , i just get them a BIG crate of diapers and a realy cute outfit.

  9. When I had my twins I was very, very grateful to all the people who were kind enough to be practical and give me diapers!! Get her a bigger size than she needs now - I loved that!!

  10. When my son was born i got far to many clothes and baby grows, gro bags etc,

since its twins shes going through twice as much,  get her nappys, wipes, baby millk anything that would help her out, and wil be used.

an average baby uses between 5 - 8 nappys a day so thats roughly 16 a day and 117 a week!! now thing of them wipes.

    xx

  11. Several posters already came up with offering your time and/or services. If they have an au pair, then they don't need baby sitting. What about meals (as others have said) videos/DVD's, bath bubbles to relax, soothing sound DVD for babies to sleep to (mine loved it), a coupon for dinner and a movie.

I think you're in the UK, but I remember when I lived there that they still had coupon deals for dinner and a movie, right?

    Great small gift ideas-

    Photo albums

Tins with special molding clay to put babies' foot and/or hand in to make a mold.

Memory book-a book to record all the firsts, like first smile, when first learned to crawl/walk, first word, etc.

    Good luck!

  12. a stiff drink they'll be needing it.

  13. Diapers, will be very useful. extra tiny butts to change

  14. My fiance has just given birth to twins. Plenty of people have bought clothes, offered money, given nappies and other things. But the most useful gift of all was from a friend of the family. She doesn't have much money and doesn't have children herself, so we wouldn't expect much of her anyway. But she cooked us many meals and brought them round for us and also offered to do any shopping we needed and help looking after my older son. She has been extremely helpful - anyone can spend a bit of money but when you have a baby it's stressful. Especially with twins, the last thing you want to do is cook a meal or go out shopping when you've got so much to do.

Offer her your help in shopping and any errands she might need running. If you can cook, she would really appreciate help there too.

  15. I bought two sailor suits for a friend twins she had a boy, girl, and her husband was in the navy so it was really cute all three of them in the outfits.

I also did the same thing for a friend of mine who is in the army i bought her twins two little army outfits.I had those special made, they don't make them in newborn sizes.

Anther friend I bought Christmas dresses for,and then for their first birthday a really cute kiddie pool.

How about a duel camera video monitor,or a load of diapers.

Maid service for a couple weeks, would be really nice.

  16. I also have a friend with twins, you would be suprised at the ammount of nappies, wipes, creams, lotions etc she goes through, even scratch mits, bibs, vests, sleepsuits...why not try covering a wicker basket with some silk and fill it with all of these usefull items.

cover with celeophane and put a pretty bow on the top! hey presto, one of the most useful presents a mum could have for newborn twins...

  17. I would buy her a nice big box and fill it with nappies, baby wipes, cream, bibs etc.

That will be a very useful prezzie and lighten the load for her cause twins cost a fortune! x

  18. Earplugs!
