  1. Mothballs are a good repellent for spiders. It may work for the rest as well. Just put some (just a few like 3-5, in each place) behind furniture, under the kitchen and bathroom sinks, behind the washer/dryer, in closets, and attic and basement if you have attic & basement.

  2. a gd hard back book to sqish em

  3. Once  a year we bomb out house with Hot Shot Indoor Fogger.. You can get them at Walmart...They klll all kinds of insects and you won't see one for a year.  Make sure you turn off all pilot lights and remove pets. You need to stay out of your house or apartment for up to 5 hrs...I cover my kitchen cabinets so I don't have to clean them..It works great. Have been doing this for years and we NEVER have a bug of any kind..Also we live in the country where there are all kinds of them..
