I was wondering what the best pubs on the north side of Dublin are? I will be staying there this summer. I'm also looking for more authentic places, trying to avoid touristy and overly posh type pubs.

  1. In the city centre try Clearys on Amiens Street, beside Connolly station. Tourists rarely venture this far and you'l meet a good mix of people here. I like the Oval on Middle Abbey Street, very near Abbey Luas stop. However it does attract some tourists, being near O'Connell Street.

Neither of the above are posh, by the way! You might like to read my pubs guide (which contains links to other sites) - Slainte!

  2. Smyths in Fairview

  3. the best pint ot Guinness in north co Dublin is the pound in swords

  4. Gibney's in Malahide ... I've always had a great time there ... not a lot of tourists ...

  5. Nealons in Skerries. No tourists and great pints. Like the coast inn to but can be noisey and full of kids.

Blue on the harbour is great to sit outside and sip your favourite cocktail.

Gibneys  in Malahide is also great...no posers or idiots.

If you are going into to Dublin City  I always liked Mulligans of Poolbeg street
