Me an my friends are going to Truckee next week because one of my friend's has a cabin there. We want to go snowboarding, and we wanted to know which was the best resort to go to.

I know there's Northstar & Sugar Bowl. Any other good ones?

  1. They're both pretty good choices if you know the mountain.  For example, if you go to Northstar, Roundevous chair and the trails to the left are usuall good (it's a slow chair, but alot less crowded).  Also, if Lookout Mtn is open, that's great for trees.  Otherwise, you might get stuck in the crowds.  I haven't been to Sugarbowl in a while, but that's a good mountain too.  Most people who snowboard Tahoe usually say that Homewood is the best for snowboarders and I have to agree.  They raised their prices this year, but it's got great all around terrain and the best views of the lake.  It's on the smaller side, but it's got enough terrain and variety to make up for it.  When you pull into the parking lot, you might think you're at the wrong place - it looks tiny, but don't be fooled.  The mountain goes up beyond where you can see.  It's generally the place where locals go.  It'll be about 40 minutes from Truckee.
