Good restaurant in California?

In about a week ill be going to California and staying around Monterey Park. I was wondering if anyone has some good restaurant suggestions that are close or around Monterey Park?

Monterey Park is great for Chinese food, just pick anyone and you will have a good meal.

I recommend Ocean Star on Atlantic for dim sum and Shin Sen Gumi for yakitori and shabu shabu (Japanese) on the corner of Atlantic and Garvey.

If you want to venture out, try the Kitchen on Valley or Triumphal Palace in Main in Alhambra for Chinese.

If you can make it up to South Pasadena, you might enjoy Firefly on El Centro, Mike and Anne's on Mission, or the Raymond Restaurant on Fair Oaks.  All serve more upscale American/Continental food.
