Good restaurants in Edinburgh?

Its my birthday in 3weeks and my fiance is taking me for a romantic meal.

He has booked a table on the boat resaurant (called the cruz i think) that sits at the shore in leith. Has anybody been there? Is it good? I heard it wasn't that good and very expensive!

Any ideas of other restaurants in Edinburgh that we can have a lovely romantic meal?

  1. Not tried the one you mentioned.

But the Tapas Tree (http://www.tapastree.co.uk) is a lovely little place. Great food, lovely atmosphere. Just off Broughton Street.

  2. For decor wise fairly hard to beat the Witchery and Jacksons (both on the High Street), but both pricey for what you get.

Skippers bistro is quaint and has wonderful seafood... and the Pompadour (main restaurant at the Caley) has a table that has a fantastic setting in a wee windowed recess looking up to the castle... expensive but fantastic food.
