I'm moving into the area soon and I'm wondering if there is any good local restaurants to look out for. I realisze if I head into the downtown area there is a lot of great places to eat but is there anything worth going to without crossing the river?

  1. well if your looking for pretentious food that is way overpriced there is Piropos.....Zona Rosa has a few decent restaurants...but actually there isn't too much in the Northland that you ever hear anything about!

  2. Bravos in Zona Rosa

  3. Hi, it depends on the type of food you like.  We live North of the River near Gladstone.  There's a great place called Cafe Italia on Barry and Oak.  It's not a chain.  We've also eatin at this place called Strouds located just of I-35.  Stroud's is a good down home eating place with good fried chicken.  There are only 2 of these in the kansas city area.  In North Kansas City on Armour road there is First watch which is only open for breakfast and lunch, Kelso's which is a bar with good pizza and Chappel's which is a neat sports bar.  With the exception of First Watch, the other restaurants I mention in NKC are smoking.  Kansas City restaurants are Non Smoking.  Good luck.

  4. Gojo's is great. Its over by Westport. Japanese steakhouse and they cook everything in front of you. not too expensive either

  5. If you're up for some great Mexican Food then Margerita's is the place to go! We stop there whenever we're passing thru.

  6. chapels sports bar
