Good restaurants in nyc?

Question

I want to take my boyfriend out to dinner for his birthday. It's only gonna be the two of us so I want a romantic & pretty place. Good food, and not too expensive but as long as it's less than $100 for the both of us, that's fine (as long as it's worth it!) I want it to be kind of fancy but I don't want to feel out of place since he's only turning 20 and I'm still 19. I'm just sick of going to the same chain restaurants, so please I would greatly appreciate any suggestions!
