I'll be in Denver on Friday, and I'm looking for a restaurant where my boyfriend and I can go. Nothing too fancy...a little diner might be nice. Thanks for the help!

  1. DO NOT go to Casa Bonita. A) you'll get sick and B) you'll get robbed on the cost.

DO consider checking out Sams No. 3 as suggested. Or, hop on one of the bike messenger's readily available in Denver and head to My Brother's Bar, at 15th St and Platte - its a former hang out of Jack Krakauer and Neal Cassidy, and home of a kick butt, cheap burger.

For a great bite that's unusual, hit up an ethiopian joint off of Colfax - there are several in the area. Or, you can head to 6th Ave and Pearl St for a taste of Little India's <$8 lunch buffet. YUM!

For lighter fare, head to Cherry Creek and hit Mad Greens Salad shop (cheap and great salads).

  2. LoDo (lower downtown) is within walking distance of the convention center. There are several good restaurants and several micro-breweries in the area.- check out the website below - it has links to the restaurant web sites

  3. Couple of places within easy walking distance.

One is The Market at 1445 Larimer St.. It is a buffet style with a wide variety of foods that are surprisingly good and inexpensive.  Plus you get to wander around Larimer Square shopping district.

It is a bit more of a walk, but Wynkoop Brewing Company 1634 18th St. is a popular brewpub with moderate prices.

  4. I used to live in Denver... I really like "La Loma" it is a great Mexican place.  Or "Casa Bonita" is kind of like a theme restaurant.  They have cliff divers and a haunted house that is open all of the time.  It's really fun.

  5. It is called the pi it is a small bar that is really relaxed

  6. los cabos its a peruvian restraunt on 15th and champa its really good or you could just walk to the 16th street mall which is like 4 blocks away and there are to ns of restaurants and bars and stores to enjoy

  7. try the one on the street near the baseball aprk names cna't remember

  8. A very popular diner-type restaurant super close to the convention center is Sam's #3.  It's a Tex-Mex kind of place with really great food -- huge portions, and not healthy, but if you want to spluge it's great!

Wynkoop is one of my favorite places (they brew their own beer and have amazing food) but they aren't as close to the convention center.  I saw that someone else reccomended it, and it's a very good suggestion, just not as close.

If you're looking for a healthier fare, Leela European Cafe is supposed to be great with lots of vegetarian options and great coffee.  It's definitely more casual though -- but right by the convention center!

I wouldn't reccomend anything off the 16th Street Mall -- it's a very touristy street, so the restaurants are mostly chains, and not a good representation of what Denver has to offer.  However, if you feel like hopping the 16th Street Free Mall Ride (they run very frequently all along that street) you should try Dixon's Downtown Grill.  They have great all-american food, and the restaurant is classy but casual (with awesome service).

I hope that helps you out -- enjoy your stay in Denver! :)
