  1. There are 4 or 5 Salvadorean restaurants offering pupusas on Mission Street in San Francisco, beginning at about 24th near the BART station and going to perhaps 28th.  That's an interesting part of SF, so just walk along there and you'll have several choices.  I used to eat pupusas at least twice a week when I lived in the Mission District, but I can't remember the specific names of any of the restaurants where I ate.  Good luck!

  2. Hi there. I don't know of any place in San Jose...but near my apartment in San Francisco is a great pupusa joint, and here is the info:

    Olivo's

1017 Larkin St (between Hemlock St & Post St)

    San Francisco, CA 94109

    (415) 931-3019

I've been here maybe five times, always order pupusas, and they are always great. They have a beer from El Salvador that I tried, in large 32oz bottles, that goes really great with their food, but I can't recall...Regal? Royal?

    Anyway, hope that is helpful!

  3. Vicky's Restaurant

    (408) 292-3838

    1536 W San Carlos St

    San Jose, CA

i live like two blocks from it, i went once and it was really good. its very authentic, and they have karaoke on fridays and saturdays

  4. These restraunts are usually located in the bad part of town, so I would suggest hitting the wrong side of the tracks and as soon as you start seeing roach coaches, you will soon see signs for papusas.

  5. I recommend El Chalateco. There are several locations and all seem consistently great! I like the one on King and the one downtown best because it's always busy and it's a fun atmosphere. The one by Santa Clara University is always pretty dead (late at night anyway). They also have Mexican food but the pupusas are not to be missed! I hope you like it!
