Question:

Good schools to teach at in Hanoi or Saigon?

I have over 4 years ESL teaching experience. I have taught in Taiwan, Japan, and most recently Thailand.

I am now considering doing this in Vietnam. I have joined sites that specialize in Vietnam.

I am interested in teaching high school to elderly students. Of course, I would appreciate a school that cares for teachers as well as students, offers a fair salary and benefits etc..

Specifically, I would like to teach in Nha trang or elsewhere in HCMC, but will also consider Hanoi.

I would appreciate insight from people who are already teaching there.

Thanks.

  1. I just can give you a hint to find an organization you like.

for Language centers in Vietnam, there are bunches:

    *in HCMc:

    +ILA

    +VUS

    +or universities

ILA and VUS are 2 famous and popular language centers here in HCMc. Yet, ILA's facilities are better.

*in Hanoi or Nha Trang: im not so familiar with both of these places, especially Nha Trang. Though, I am pretty sure that Hanoi has more options for you. By the way, there's a lot of NGO/non-profit program in Hanoi and Nha Trang or Da Nang. I have a friend taught in University of Business Administration in Hanoi. The University offered my friend a house as well. Maybe you can talk to Universities in Hanoi to see what they offer you

  2. Yes ! you can tech English everywhere in Vietnam, of courst just in Language Centrer , that's be fine. But when you want to tech in goverment school or college, you must have  school attendace certificate or English teaching diploma. if not you can't ask for teaching schools.

If you come to Hanoi, i will give you some good place for you ask for teaching : Language link centrer ( it's in Cat Linh street) or English-London centrer.Apolo centre....

Some others can teach without diploma, but they had to sign in contract -short-term, it's not safety for you.

of corst they will have check your file before you work for them.

it's not realy easy, right? hehehe
