  1. A good lesson on chemical change would be making slime out of white glue, borax, water, and food coloring (green, commonly). You can talk a little about solids and liquids and ask critical thinking questions about why and how the changes occured. Most of all they LOVE playing with the slime.

  2. Do a search on Steve Spangler science.  He has some amazing ideas and they are usually very easy.

  3. How about the mentos and diet coke explosion.  Baking soda and vinagor, dye water the basic colors in a couple jars and get some white carnations and watch them change colors and look pretty, water and oil in a 2 liter bottle dye the water a color and fill a quarter of the bottle with oil and explan why they don't get mixed. Grow a potato above grown.  Light a small light bulb with a lemon.  Give them some other chosses to see what eles would like the bulb.

  4. my nieces and nephews love to do the one with a raw egg.

    1. let them each try to break the egg by squeezing it in their fist

    2. put the egg in a cup

    3. pour enough white vinegar to cover the egg

    4. let it sit (it can take several hours)

    5. after shell has come off the egg let the children feel it.....

    it's like rubber.

If you have enough space/supplies you could do one per child. That way you can let them squeeze the 'rubber' egg at the end of the project.

You will have to have cleaning stuff ready to vlean up the mess!

  5. Have children bring in different shapes of ice. Or you could fill buckets, bowls, plastic gloves etc. with water and freeze them. Then build an ice sculpture by adding salt between the ice shapes. Add food coloring for fun. Ask the children what they think will happen as the ice melts to the colors or to the shapes. How long will it take for the ice sculpture to melt?

  6. ummm how about like racing or playin in shapes and blocks
