  1. Covent Garden isnt exactly a big mall, but its charming, historic, has lots of little boutiques,is under cover and traditional - in short, its my favourite! Just get the tube, you cant miss it,so closeby.

  2. There aren't any. Oxford Street is what you are looking for (in WC1). A bit like a shopping mall but without a roof, and cars drive down the middle. In my opinion it is nicest near Bond Street. Having said that, some of the shops are about as big as a shopping mall, i.e. Selfridges, John Lewis. In London the shopping malls tend to be on the outskirts (Brent Cross, Lakeside, Bluewater). City centre shopping in London is more interesting, more unusual and more expensive than these bland arcades.

In answer to your additional, yes - most of these shops are on Oxford Street. Hamleys is on Regent Street which is just off Oxford Street. Harrods however isn't. It is very near Knightsbridge tube station which is a way away. Walk from bond street tube to tottenham court road tube along Oxford Street and you will see most of all the shops you are looking for (turn right at oxford circus for hamleys).
