www.craftster.org for crafty hipsters, and look in the separate forums for crocheting and for cooking. There are forums for just about every other kind of craft, too, including sewing, and paper crafts, and jewelry making, and home decorating.....and lots and LOTS of pictures. It's a regular community of crafty people who love to share their great ideas, and some of their hilarious disasters, too.

And the Search function works pretty well, too.

Freepatterns.com is one of favorites but all you have to do is put in "Free crochet patterns" in your search engine and you will be led to a whole bunch of fun and exciting spots. I have been crocheting for over 25 years and I absolutely can't live without it.
