  1. Four very important rules for auditioning.

    1. Pick something that's upbeat. No one like a slow audition song.

2.Try and pick something original, not something that a bunch of people will be singing.

Try "I enjoy being a girl" from Flower Drum Song. Or "diamonds are a girls best friend" or "Johnny One Note."

Don't sing anything from Hairspray, Wicked or High School Musical because everyonee will.

If you want something really fun that no one will do, sing the theme song from your favorite kids show. Like Magic School Bus or Arthur.

    3. Make sure it's in your range and that you move around while you sing. No one likes a good audition and those two things will make everyon watching more comfortable.

    4. And finally make sure you smile! It shows the directors that you have good stage presence and are confident in what you're singing.

    Good luck with your audition!

  2. You need something original to set you apart from the crowd so don't pick high school musical or grease.Being 13 something from phantom of the opera, sweeney todd or cats isn't good for your age group therefore something from oliver!-who will buy, where is love billy elliot-expressing yourself, the stars look down or wicked-NOT defying gravity it really isn't appropriate for an audition but 'I'm not that girl'.Listen to the tracks on youtube and decide which compliements your voice. If you don't like any try annie bugsy malone or chitty chitty bang bang...

  3. Do not sing a song from the musical you are auditioning for unless it's specifically asked. That's just a general rule because it's tacky & the director than can't see you in a variety of roles just the one from the song you sang.

    Good Morning Baltimore - Hairspray

My New Philosophy - You're A Good Man Charlie Brown

16 Going on 17 - Sound of Music

Shy - Once Upon a Mattress

I Enjoy Being a Girl - Flower Drum Song

to name a few I like to sing.

Don't sing songs from Wicked or RENT because they are way overdone.

  4. I love musicals. I would recommend Wicked, Whistle Down the Wind, Cats, Jesus Christ Superstar, Hairspray, Phantom of the Opera, The King and I, Les Miserabes, and Annie. There are many others that I forgot the name but I love broadway. Good luck!!

  5. well you can't go wrong singing a song from the musical you're auditioning for. It really depends on the musical and your vocal range but without that information here's a list of songs: Cain't say no (oklahoma!), the worst pies in london (sweeney todd), one boy (bye bye birdie), summer lovin' (grease), in my own little corner (rodgers and hammersteins cinderella), the new girl in town (hairspray), tommorow (annie), roll in the hay (young frankestein), sixteen going on seventeen (sound of music), love you i do (dreamgirls), footloose (footloose), part of your world (the little mermaid), halloween (rent) or somewhere over the rainbow (the wizard of oz).

hope this helps, good luck with your audition.
