Me and my classmates are going to join a group singing competition in a school singing competition. We're trying to put together a medley of oldies which we're gonna adapt to the modern style of music. What songs do you think would be great for this?

  1. You have two problems to overcome

    1) Don't go back too far otherwise half your audience will not know the songs

    2) Anything from the last 30 years will have a 'modern' feel ~ that's why they keep being sampled

The latter may be your way forward ~ If you can find older songs that have already been sampled then your older and younger listeners will have recognition.

You can still do the chosen songs in a different way to both the original and sampled versions ~ hence putting your own stamp on them.

    Best of luck!

  2. songs from the 80's would be a good choice.

  3. Go to a CD store and look at the Oldies section that has Best of 70's, 80's, 90's.  That'll give you a direction.  If you really want to impress them, add a couple of erly 60's to the mix.

  4. you need a pop song, a ballad, a funky/ hip hop song and somthing wild
