Question:

Good songs or CD's to dial in and tune subwoofers?

I am installing a 1600 watt (RMS) subwoofer system (2-12" subs) in the trunk of my E55 Benz. I have the entire thing dynomatted and spared no expence. I also ported the trunk to the cabin of the car.

I am starting to build/install the system now, but would like to have some songs burned and ready to dial in and fine tune the bass.

I listen to all types of music, but tend to gravitate to newer rock/rap/alternative. Can anyone recommend some good songs or CD's that will definitely test the systems capabilities?

Also, some good song choices for SPL competitions?

  4. Playing poorly recorded, distortion laden, bottom heavy music is not the correct way to adjust your sub woofers.  In addition to the above suggestion and the CD you bought, look into some 0db test tones.  You can run different tones and see if you have any peaks or dead spots across the frequency range of the sub woofer.
