i'm a single mother with 3 kids and currently live in sydney. We are going to move to Brisbane later this year. i need the information about the good suburb in Brisbane where is plenty family, easy access to public transport, not to far to the city, good school and the housing pricing below $700k. My kids at the moment study at King's and Tara in North Parramatta so im looking for the school that have at least the same standard as them or maybe more. Please help me out. Thank you very much.

  1. Comparable boys schools in Brisbane are Brisbane Grammar (BGS) which is Christian non-denominational, Anglican Church of England Grammar School (Churchie) and Brisbane Boys College (BBC) which is Presbyterian and Methodist (it's a really brilliant school with great facilities).

Comparable girls schools are Brisbane Girls Grammar (BGGS) Christian non-denom., St. Margaret's Anglican School, St Aidan's Anglican School, Somerville House and Clayfield College (both P&M)

Kenmore would be a good suburb or Chapel Hill and a great many of the kids living there go to one of the above. You could also look at Toowong and Indooroopilly, but they may be a bit out of your price range. Churchie, St Margaret's and Clayfield College are a bit far away as they're on the other side of town and Somerville House is a bit hard to get to from the west, but I think a special bus goes to Churchie. Normal bus transport is good and goes directly to all of the schools on this side of the city.

I would look closely at BBC and perhaps St Aidan's for your girl/s. Another suggestion is St Peter's Lutheran College in Indooroopilly. It's a good quality school and is co-educational. I personally prefer single s*x schools and am not keen on the Lutheran bit, but it is a good school and is worth investigating. It's easy to get to from the suggested suburbs. If your kids are into sport, all of the above schools compete in Greater Public School Sport (known as GPS pronounced GEEPS - boys and QGSSSA - girls) and that's the highest standard inter-school sporting competition in Brisbane.
