Good surfing spots in NC?

Does anyone know of any good surfing spots for beginners in NC? Do you know of any places I could rent surfboards and gear once i get there? =]

do not go to hatteras** or corolla*

they are the roughest spots to surf at for beginers..

i would say any where from kitty hawk to like nags head. they are most likely the best spot to start surfing.

Most shops from Kitty Hawk south have board rentals and give lessons as well.  You will see the shops right along the main road.  One link for one place is below.

more important than the spot is the swell. check weather reports and wait for swell. It's usually flat over there. East coast surfers learn to wait and then when the swell is on, there on it everyday.

depends where you are going.....cape hatteras on the outer banks is considered the best surfing spot on the east coast.......

most people go to southeastern n.c.beaches ...wrightsville carolina and topsail beaches....good spot on topsail is onshore surfshop...they rent boards...the piers usually have the best breaks so try surfing near there........
