i've decided to only keep my fish i have now instead of buying a 5 gallon and more fish. i'm probably going to buy this: http://www.petco.com/product/8280/PETCO-2-Gallon-Hexagon-Mini-Fresh-Water-Aquarium.aspx so what do you think about it for one male betta? also, whats some nice colored gravel or stones or something of the sort i can put on the bottom? and a nice looking plant? my fish is black, burgundy, and blue. thanks!

  1. If I were you i would go to a petsmart or even petco and buy a 10 gallon tank kit. These kits run for about $30.00. I would try to make the tank look as natural as possible. I have natural gravel, lava rocks, driftwood & live plants in my 29 gal Betta tank.

Edit: That's some really pretty gravel and the plant is also nice.

  3. i think that's a great tank for a beta... they are very simple fish in terms of what they need... as for rocks for my beta i had deep red stones that were in the shape of hearts and then some clearish/white stones to lighten up the tank a little and it worked great... beta fish are so pretty anyway that everything you put in the tank just accent their colors!

  4. That's fine-- just remember, it's nearly impossible to cycle a tank that small, so you need to do regular water changes.  (A guide: http://www.healthybetta.com/betta-care-h... )

Don't overdecorate-- in a small tank, you need to maximize swimming space.  Put in a soft plant (preferably silk, so it doesn't rip his fins) and a  hiding spot, like a ceramic flower pot or fish cave.

Gravel is a pain during water changes-- if you want something at the bottom, glass stones are easier.

You'll also need a heater (and an aquarium thermometer) to keep the water around 78 or 80 degrees (unless your house is VERY warm).  A 7.5 watt miniheater will work in that tank and is inexpensive.

Make sure you do everything you need to keep him healthy and thriving-- not just pretty.

  5. The Absolute MINIMUM for a betta is 1/2 gallon. And a 2 gollon would be enough. I have each of mine in a 10 gallon tank. (but then again i spent 100 for each of my bettas so im gonna treat them like royalty. I would say an over the top set up is a 10 gallon and 2 gallon with a filter is very nice. Make sure the filter doesnt create to strong of a current. Bettas dont like currents.

  6. 2gal tank and up

and pick ur fav graval color a soft plan and a hinding place like a casle
