Ok so i am about to quit my job after two months. I want my last day to be sept. 7th, so i will turn in my two week notice on August 24th. On the 24th we have a all store meeting so i was wondering if it would be a good idea to tell everyone that i will be quitting and say thanks to everyone and stuff like that. Or should that be a personal thing where i speak to my manager one on one??

  1. Just dont annouce it. Talk to your boss about it privetly. If the meeting is about something serious then wait a couple days becuase he/she might just get even more annoyed.

  2. It would be improper of you to announce your departure before having a private meeting with your boss.

  3. LOVE that you are giving a two week notice...just imploring you to not do it the day of the meeting!  Many managers really prepare for a "pep you up" meeting and it will be a real drag for her/him to have your notice right before.

Could you give it a day or two before the meeting?  That way, the manager could "announce" your resignation in a "good luck to ___" way at the meeting to all.  It's the right thing to do!  And yes,  a written resignation is great also!

  4. For legal reasons, the best way to quit any job is to put it in writing and keep a copy. Give it to your manager and CC his boss.

This letter is to inform you I am resigning my position. My last day of work will be... Thank you for giving me this opportunity, I have enjoyed working at (Name of company). Sincerely,
