What month would be best for skiing in Utah? I'm planning to go to Alta, Solitude, Snowbird area.

I want to avoid the big crowds and also have good snow.

  1. I've always gone in January, but the snow is usually good from November thru April.  The crowds weren't bad.  The best times would be to avoid holidays.  Park City and Deer Valley are good resorts too.  Also close by is the Utah Olympic Park.  I tried the ski jump years ago, the public can sometimes get on the bobsled.  http://www.utah.com/olympics/venues/utah...

    Have fun!

  2. Best month are January through March if you can stand powder snow.  i usually plan a week after a Holiday week.  Crowds seem to be less than normal.  Holiday weeks stay away.  You'll get half the amount of runs in.

Alta is the highest and probably the best.  Park city the most crowded and good for people watching.

Good luck and have a great time.

  3. January, on Sundays. Sundays are the best day to go. Saturday is the WORST if you want to avoid crowds.

Also...alta and solitude are in different areas just so you know.  They're in different canyons.

If you are looking for a good deal (alta and snowbird can be expenisve, and solitude can be too) try Brighton. Its at the top of the canyon past solitude, but they aren't a big resort place so there are fewer crowds, great runs, and cheaper lift passes.
