Good times to sail a boat with wind propel?

like what is a good time to sail out and a good time to come back??

  1. let me start by saying this is an educated guess and may be wrong...

    i believe that if you sail a boat you would want the wind going out to sea,

    asuming your leaving port you would want to go at night as the air above the sea will be warmer (hence less dence) than the air over the land due to water retaining its heat for longer this would result in winds blowing away from shore

    if you are going into port you would want the wind going inland and as such during the day as the land would heat up quicker and be warmer than the sea (just the opposite of at night really)

    hope this helps it would be nice if someone would confirm this for me


  2. reddwarf gave a very good answer to a stupid question.

    At night you get a land breeze, and during the day a sea breeze.

    Approaching land during the day is wise, you can see the navigation marks.
