I've been a vegetarian for about 8 years now and I would like to gradually become vegan.

If you're vegan how did you cope at first? and what sort of things would you advise me to eat? :~)

  1. you should go to peta2.com and ask for there free stickers they come with a dvd that will make you never want meat, milk, or and animal kind of food ever!!!!The site is really good !! also just get use to fake milk, cheese, and shop at a heath store. You'll have so much more energy !

  2. don't eat meat

  3. i ain't vegan but don't that mean u don't eat meat or dairy or eggs? stuff that how do u get all your vitamins and protein and stuff

  4. i am no longer vegan but when i was i suffered a lot of deficiencies so make sure and take a calcium supplement and multi vitamins!

in the way of food there are a lot of soy/rice replacements such as the obvious soy or rice milk.

but there is some controversy about consuming too much soy. it messed with my thyroid so if you plan on replacing a lot of food with soy, take an iodine supplement (seaweed supplement does the same thing). it balances things out with all the soy.

    good luck!

  5. That's great you're interested in going vegan!

You might find it helpful to make a list of your favorite non-vegan foods and recipes. Then figure out how you could modify them to create vegan versions. For instance:

Yogurt with fruit --> WholeSoy yogurt with fruit

Grilled cheese --> Grilled cheese with Follow Your Heart soy cheese

Ice cream & whipped cream --> So Delicious soy ice cream & Soyatoo vegan whipped cream

Popular vegan fake meats and non-dairy products:

Also, I would just concentrate on taking eggs and dairy out of your diet. Don't worry if some ingredient you've never even heard of is vegan or not. Veganism is about trying to make humane choices; it's not being somehow "pure" or perfect.

    Good luck!

    Here are some good recipes:

Stir fry- You need cut up tofu, soy sauce, olive oil, steamed veggies, and cooked rice

Get a frying pan and coat it with olive oil. The put the tofu in the pan and brown each side of it. Next, add the veggies. Add a little soy sauce and put in the rice. Mix everything up and then let it sit on the stove, occasionally stirring it to make sure it doesn't burn. After about a minute and a half of that put it in a bowl and enjoy!

Hummus- chick peas, lemon juice, paprika, cumin, black pepper, and any other spices/seasonings you like

Puree the chick peas. Then add a little lemon juice, paprika, pepper, and other spices. Then stir. Serve with a pita, with cucumbers, or on a veggie wrap.
