  2. Here are some other travel forums that go into detail on how to get a taxi from the airport to your hotel and return.  These travel forums are helpful for many questions that may pop up.

Ignore all of the touts at the airport that want to provide rides into the city unless you want to pay more.  There is a meter taxi sign up desk outside the arrivals hall near the curb.  You are responsible for the meter fare to the hotel, a 50 baht surcharge and any tolls.  Probably 2 tolls, 1 for 25 baht and 1 for 40 baht.  If the driver asks for the toll money that is okay, just don't pay him a second time later on.   Alway have small bills available to pay for the taxi ride, a 500 baht note may be too much to make change for.  You pay for the fare and surcharge after you get to the hotel.  Have a good address for your hotel, not just a name.  Are you in First House or First Hotel?  First Hotel is not too far from the Skytrain stop at the Asia Hotel.

In the city you can find the nearest Skytrain and use that transportation when possible to get around town.  A meter taxi is cheaper than a tuk-tuk unless you speak Thai.  For a meter taxi ignore parked taxi cabs and wave a moving taxi over, tell the driver METER ONLY and hop in.  If the driver wants to bargain the ride get another taxi, there are hundreds of them all over the place!   Paying the meter price is normal and cheaper than bargaining.  A taxi waiting near a hotel or at a bus station usually wants to bargain the fare.

What to do??  Well, if you Google "what to see and do in Thailand" you will get lots of hits.  Here are a few samples:

Tours are very easy to get in Bangkok, Pattaya, Chiang Mai and Phuket - find the nearest travel agency and check out their list of available tours and select one.  Travel agencies book the tours for you.    Information on tours from travel agencies is free, check a few out - there are lots and lots of travel agencies.

Change your money over after you get to Thailand for the best rate.  See the above travel forums for specifics.

    Have a good trip.
