Probably looking at mid-priced skis/bindings/boots all for around $500.

  1. Go to a ski swap this fall.  There is lots of quality used and new gear for much cheaper than in stores.  You can get everything you need there and if you need help just ask.  Theres lots of knowledgable skiers who can help you find what you need

  2. Spend all that you can on the boots and foot beds, the ski/ binding is the least concern. You can find second hand ski/ binding packages in good condition at many sales. Learn to tune the ski properly no matter what brand ski you use, the tune (edge sharpen and wax) is critical. The ski set will last 2 years, the boots for 4-5 years.  The boots are supposed to be tight around your foot and ankle, add foot beds and you can ride all day.  Have fun.

  3. i wouldn't get twin tips for a beginer. and you want to put money down on good boots. that matters more when you are just starting. Go to a proffesional boot fitter. For skis don't worry so much about that.

  4. go for the cheaper model of the major ski brands, like the rossignol sprayers and the salomon flyers....

they still perform good outside of the park, so if you dislike the park you can still perform good on the regular trails.

  5. For twin tips, it all depends on what kind of rider you are. Since you're saying you're a beginner my best bet would be the Rossignol Sprayers. They're relatively cheap and easy to ride. I purchased them at Sportchek for 300 with the ski and a quality binding. They're perfect for beginners but   the best bet would be to go into a ski shop and see what they have to say because they are the professionals. Also, a solid boot makes the your first pair of twin tips alot more enjoyable. The Sprayers are perfect for hitting the park with!
