Question:

Good volleyball position for me?

I'm trying out for a middle school volleyball camp.

I played last yea at school on the b team (lesser team) and we didn't really have positions.

I played on a club team that is now ending and have improved a lot.

Next year I am going to get on the A team for sure and was wondering what position I should train for because I can go to a lot of camps.

I am about 5'0 (Yes, I am kinda short)

I have fast reflexes and am an agressive player.

I enjoy backrow but I don't really like to serve (I'll do it if I have to)

What would be a good position for me?

  1. You're still pretty young and growing, and while playing Libero might be an obvious choice based on your question (It WILL help you become a better passer and that will help you later in high school), I would try for setter. 5'2 will probably not be your adult height so specializing at your age would kind of be like making a final decision on your adult career at preschool graduation. :)

If you end up being a 5'2 adult, and still have the passion for playing, setters tend to make great liberos if told to switch.

  2. hey im in middle school 2! i was on the A team this year and we didnt really play set positions. there was only a few positions that were in stone. like i wuz setter, and then there was a group of people classified as hitters and a group of people classified as back row. hope this helps, when u get to high school they have set positions, so then u should be a libero.

  3. Libero? can only play back row and is not allowed to serve

  4. if u like back row, you would be a good le barro! and that would prolly work for your since you have fast reflexes and you are agressive! good luck!

  5. u would be a good libero...and the good news in the libero doesnt really ever serve...pl are surprised when they do...so i think that should be a good postion for you...i hope this helped

  6. hmmmm

    how about....

    D.S.?

  7. I think you should be the setter. Or whatever you are comfortable with it all depends on you!!! Not really us!

  8. I am about that tall too. Ok. I think that a good position for you would be a libero. This person is constantly using their reflexes to make split second decisions. You have to truly be aggresive and want the ball though.

I am a setter. The setter gets to enjoy every part of the game and there are less people that are setters so you have a better chance of making the team.

To practice both of these, put a piece of duct tape about 10-12 feet up on the wall and bump and set the ball aiming for that piece of tape. Good luck making the team!!!

  9. libero

they dont serve and you can play back row

  10. I would definately go for libero or maybe setter but your def. to short for a hitter. And setter plays the net so LIBERO all the way!

  11. I would agree with everyone else and say libero. If you really like to pass, then it would be good choice, also since they don't serve. If you think that wouldn't work, or you don't like passing a lot, then I'd try setting. If you are fast and agressive, then that's good. Those are two great qualities to have in a setter.

  12. well if ur 5 feet then i guess u shouldnt really be playing in the first row, especailly if ur playing defense. play back row if ur really agressive, u'll do ur best there. work on ur serves because ur going to have to do them no matter what position u play.

  13. libero!!!! you can always improve on your serving... but if you dont like libero you can always try setting! if they are running 6-2 the setter is always from the back.. so youll be back row. but running everywhere, and if your agressive, thats great!!!! my frensh. year our setter was 5'1'' but great! fast and sounds like you lol =)

    good luck!~

  14. You should be a libero!!!! They have to have fast reflexes, and they play back row!! They are normally short people, but don't worry I am short too!!! I am not a libero though I am a setter we also have to have fast reflexes but we do serve and you have to be a good setter to be a setter!!! I hope I helped so good luck in finding the position you like the most!!

  15. omg u should be a libero!!! we dont serve but we play backrow and have to have really good reflexes and must be able to move really quick....and yes it is ok to be short lol im only 5'1 and am always the shortest 1 on the team but its ok cuz im a libero

***hope i helped and good luck making the team!!!
