Good way to keep soft drinks from going flat?

Question

On 2 liter bottles, after I open it and pour some out, I squeeze the bottle to reduce the volume of the bottle. My thinking is this will lessen the carbonation from escaping into the air space. My wife thinks it's nonsense. What say you?

it depends on how fast you plan the 2 liter will last.  I'd say that if it's within 72 hours (3 days), it's nonsense.   If you plan on drinking it over a week or longer, it might preserve it more.   But I'd have to side with your wife just because I hate having weird looking 2 liter bottles around.
