  1. oooo, i remember the SAT's, bad times... umm i remember taking for the first time in october of junior year, i shouldve took the SAT 2, but its pretty much pointless if your not going to a UC, but anyway, i took it for the second time (cause i didn't do so well) early senior year i forget, but i think if you score high your fist time just keep your score, also its very stressful taking that d**n test, i wouldnt want to do that thing ever again, and i bought the huge SAT book for nothing, im starting college in a couple weeks too

  3. The best time to take it is in the fall of your junior year so that if you do not do as well as you hoped, then you have plenty of time to retake it.  Generally, by the summer/fall of senior year, you want to have already taken the SAT as many times as you decide to take it.  This allows you to have an idea what your chances of getting accepted at places are.

I recommend you start studying now though, since when the school year starts, you might get overwhelmed by classwork (I don't know your situation).

Also, as to how many times to take it...Plan on getting it your first shot.  People who carry attitudes such as ",It doesn't matter what I make since I can retake it" will never make as good of a grade as someone who takes the test as if it's the only chance.  That being said, if your grade is disappointing, retake the test by all means.  However, you must actually put more effort into studying for the second time...Your score doesn't go up significantly otherwise.  I would not recommend taking it more than 2, maybe 3 times since some attentive colleges may look at a high score in a group of low scores as a fluke.

    Anyway, good luck next year.
