Question:

Good ways to become a better football thrower

This is my first year as a quarterback for my high school team and obvisously there is a lot of pressure. I am fine at most things but i am a very weak passer and my coaches and teammates don't think i have what it takes. I have problems with leading, spirals, and sometimes just getting the ball to the wide out on deep passes. Any advice on how i can work on my throws either in practice or at home?

  1. your hips and footwork are important aswell as your arm strength. the placement of the football when you drop back is another area.  so just work on your footwork when you drop back and to use your hips to help with the deep throws also keep the ball near your cheek so there is no wasted motion when you throw.

  2. you have to throw it over your head like you are pulling a sword from your back and putting it in your pocket. its like throwing a punch twist at the hips

  3. You and I have the same problem. This my first year as a QB,i'm a weak passer and no thinks I can get the starting job.

Focus on other strengths you may have like running ability, intelligence, leadership skills, etc. I know my running ability evens out my lack of passing skills.

Watch this and you should be throwing tight spirals in addition to throwing farther.

  4. you bring your arm staright back and then bring your arm over the top of your shoulder, and then flick your wrist down and then out to get a good spiral.
