I am looking to start a small garden. Roma tomatoes, garlic, thyme, basil, rosemary, a lemon tree, etc. I am looking for a great web resource to tell me exactly how to go about doing this. When to plant and how to maintain, etc. Any suggestions?

  1. You don't say where you live, but it's probably too late to get started this year.

Check the website of your State's University for their agricultural department.  They will generally have a lot of local information for you.

I've listed a few links that I hope will help you.  You may also decide to join a community gardner's club.  They can be extremely helpful to the novice, even giving you starts from their plants.

Good luck.  Gardening is so rewarding.  Start off with some easy to grow things for your particular area.  If you can, grow zucchini (takes a lot of space, but worth it), tomatoes, chives, or any of the herbs you listed.  A local nursery can be very helpful with this, also.
